These are just some photos taken over the past couple of days of Clara. The pumpkin hat was made by a friend. Everyone thought she looked super cute!
Clara is up to 1,050 grams. 2 pounds and 5 ounces. She was a tad up on her oxygen today. A little more than usual, especially when I held her. She also looked a little pale. So they are going to get a blood gas in the morning to see if she needs another blood transfusion.
The results from the echo, where that she has a large PDA. The same as it was before. So the indomethican that was used weeks ago in hopes to close it, did not do anything. This could actually close on its own eventually, or will need surgery. Team,Jason, and myself decided to wait for that because she is just so small right now. She started steroids today, in hopes to reduce inflammation in her lungs. This will be a 10 day course. This medicine comes with lots of neuro developmental risks to Clara. It was not an easy choice to make. But we agreed with the team that it has the least risk now to try first. They believe she will do very well on this and that she be able to ween on her vent settings and then be successfully extubated soon.
