Clara is getting bigger....

Just a quick update about Clara. She has had a good week. I had prayed this weekend about how we needed a weeks worth of progress. God is good, because she has had some. She as of this evening when I called, weighs 970 grams. Which is about 2 pounds and 2 ounces. To Jason and I she looks so much bigger, and defiantly longer.

Her eye exam went well yesterday. She measured at Zone 2, meaning the blood vessels have formed to the middle of the retina. Also she is in stage 0, meaning the blood vessels are growing normally so far, but they have not yet completed their development to cover the whole retina. No sign yet of the disease. This was great news!

Her oxygen has been very low this week, so much that they thought they could exubate today. However when we got there she had been Dstating throughout the night and morning, so much that her oxygen was up in the 48-55%. This is very high for Clara. They did a chest xray, looking at where the ET was and to see if any part of her lungs looked collapsed. Nothing showed up significant, except some fluid. So all afternoon we waited to see what was to become of it, praying is wasn't going be another infection. They decided to do three days worth of Lasics, to get some of that fluid out, which will be help with the oxygen.

Tonight when I called she was down to 40% oxygen, which is almost her norm. A little weight loss is to be expected with the lasics. She has been doing great with her nutrition, with getting 17 mls of milk and 28 calories. She is almost accessory free without a PICC or IV line.

However just as I brag how great is, things could always be different in the morning. All week I have been on cloud 9 with Clara's growth and good news.  So much that I have let my mind wander to her nursery again, baby clothes and things. It's been along time since I have thought about any of that.

Most of the babies have either gone to POD G, which is the POD baby goes before they go home, or the babies have gone straight home. Besides Clara, and Grant there are only 4 more. It has been quieter in the POD which is a great thing for Clara, a noise agitates her.

Very soon I hope to walk into her room and see and hear her new bubble CPAP. Please pray specifically that she can be extubated soon.
