Don't you know that
day dawns after night,
showers displace
drought, and spring
and summer follow
winter? Then, have hope!
Hope forever, for
God will not fail you!
Charles Spurgeon
Today Clara had to have her PICC line put in again. The other one had clotted off, they think from one of the antibiotics that is super thick. A PICC is a central line is placed in a larger vein in the arms, legs, or neck and passed into deeper blood vessels near the heart. Clara's today was again put into her arm. This was done by her nurse practitioner. The procedure lasted over an hour. This PICC is being used for her two antibiotics and her fluid that she is again getting.
After the procedure Jason walked in and the top of the isolette was up and Clara was wide awake looking around and moving. He took the above photo, and said she looked just like a little baby. I love this photo. She is just so perfect and beautiful to me.
The last dose of indomethacin, for her PDA, was given yesterday morning. The PDA is still loud when they listen to her heart beat and pulse. The nurse today described it like a washing machine sound.
She will have an echocardiogram tomorrow and morning, and her team will assess. Possibly another round of medicine? surgery? We hope for good news , but at the same time we are ready for the possibility of surgery, especially if it ends up the only choice.
I read this poem in a book my friend Tiffany gave me, Jesus Today ,by Sarah Young. I have said to many times to Jason, mom and dad, that sometimes I just see no end to this. I feel so buried deep in what she has to go through. The tests, the procedures, the obstacles, time, etc. It feels unrelentless.
However I read this and I am reminded that this shall to pass. That spring and summer come after winter. God will not fail her or us. We must cling to hope.
