Clara Elyse Murphy, Day 12 of life
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified. Do not be discouraged, for The Lord your god will be with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:9
This is a picture that was taken yesterday. That is my hand, holding Clara's. She is inside her isolette. This is pretty much all we can do when she is inside, which is most of the time. During her care times, every three hours, we can change her diaper and take her temperature.
We had a good visit yesterday. Prasie...I got to do kangaroo care (hold her tucked in my shirt) for 1 hour! We thought she was going to have to go back in early because her oxygen wouldn't get stable, so when the nurse started to unplug her to move her, Clara got herself straight and decided to stay with mommy.
This morning when I called she was up to 9ml of milk. Praise... they are going to take her PICC line out tomorrow, so that means no more fluids just straight milk. They also started adding calories to her milk which should help her to grow. They said next week we should really see a difference with her weight. She is still hanging out at about 550 g.
They are wanting to see a pattern of weight gain before they consider taking the vent and put her on a CPAP Like I have said this will be our next hurdle.
Our doctor and nurse practitioners are very happy with her progress so far, but had to do a "knock on wood" after they said that. Because they are trying not to speak to early. Clara's situation could change at any time..meaning she could develop complications.
I have decided to take today off from the hospital and stay home to rest. I am so tired! Madeline had another soccer game this morning. I love going to her practices and games, because it gets my mind off everything and i just enjoy watching her little 5 year old self play. With my parents, Jason's parents and my aunt we had quite the cheering squad for the white team.
Jason and myself will spend the day tomorrow in Chapel Hill, with Clara.
So many people have have reached out to us this past week with meals, gifts cards for gas, money, emails, texts, etc. People have come to visit and spend time with us. It truly has just lifted us up. One of the most special parts of our story, besides the miracle of our Clara, is just the goodness we have seen in people. Your love and support makes us feel special.
At such a scary time in Jason's and my life, we are filled with hope because of GOD's promises and your love . Thank you.
When circumstances seem unbearable, God earnestly desires that we find comfort in Him. He longs for us to experience—in both the finest and most challenging times of our lives—the truth of Psalm 62:6-8 “He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken. My victory and honor come from God alone. He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. O my people, trust in Him at all times. Pour out your heart to Him, for God is our refuge.”
