Just a quick update about Clara. She now weighs 1331. 2 pounds 15 ounces. up 50 grams.
Yesterday she had a difficult day. They thought she possibly has pneumonia or an infection based on her being very sleepy and not active. Her vent settings went way up and needed more support. Tuesday I thought she was acting very sleepy, and mentioned it to her nurse practitioner. So on Wednesday I was not surprised that something was going on. Not surprised but still very worried. However her Dr believes that she has a partial collapsed lung, due to some secretions getting stuck in her lung airway. They are treating her with antibiotics just in case and will know more about if it is pneumonia tomorrow, when the blood cultures come back.
To pop the lung open they went up on her vent pressure and all other settings. Her blood gases, which measure CO2 in her blood are going down, which is good. So hopefully by tomorrow they will be able to ween those vent settings back down. She does seem almost back to her normal self moving around and looking around.
In lieu of whats going on they are going to put the extubation on hold that was going to be early next week.
Every morning on my long drive there I pray for no surprises and that she had a good night. I never really know what the next day will hold.
She has a long way to go and I have accepted that she will not come home in December when she was originally due. It could be weeks or months longer. The future is just way to scary to think about right now, so I am again just taking day by day.
The above photo was taken by my Aunt Geneva today. I had a nice visit with her and my cousin Hope. It was so nice to not be alone. Thank you again ladies so much for spending the day with Clara and me.
Also thanks so much Aunt Janice for taking me out to lunch yesterday and treating me with new nails. It got my mind off what was going on. Good realization that I can not spend every day at the hosptial and I can do normal stuff.
Also I had a great dinner with some friends from Sunday school last night. It was a breath of fresh air to laugh, and remember how to do so!
Family and friends are such a blessing from God.
All in all, yesterday and today I have felt very loved and supported.
