Clara Elyse Murphy
Day of life 67
1610 grams. 3 Pounds and almost 9 ounces
She loves her belly. This is how I find her most of the time.
Clara loves to hold on to vent tube. I tell her everyday how bad this tube is!
I was able to hold her only 30 minutes on Wednesday because she was having a hard time keeping her oxygen down. She usually does better with skin on skin.
Today is day 5 five of her antibiotics to treat her "assumed" pneumonia. She has made a little progress weening from the vent. Her settings are not quite as high as this past weekend. She now has a leak in her airway around her ET tube, which is a good thing. Because now they think her airway swelling has gone down, which was why she did not stay on the bubble CPAP very long, because of her airway. So maybe she will not have to have a broncos copy. She will have to have lower vent settings before they consider trying it again. Her PIP needs to be 16, and hers today was weened down to 20. Also her oxygen will have to be in the 30's. Where it was. It has been in the 40's today.
Our plan today was to see on Monday if there were any miraculous changes, and she was able to be weened down to these numbers.
We have also gotten a second opinion about PDA surgery and met with a surgeon today. We scheduled the surgery for next week, but will wait and see on Monday where we are. The surgery can always be cancelled and I hope it is. I want so much to be thinking about CPAP next week instead,
My time with Clara is still such a joy to me. It makes me feel so much better to hold her. These times have not been very often with her condition this week. I will ask again tomorrow.
Friends, family, community, people we have yet to me still continue to be such a blessing. We have received lots of encouraging cards and scripture. They are such a comfort to read after a long day away. We also had a delicious meal from a friend in our neighborhood tonight. What a treat to sit down to a home cooked meal, made by love from someone else.
My sister in law sent this to me today. I have thought about this all day.
"Look to me for all that you need, and watch and see what I will do"
What a relief that we have a God that can take care of our needs. I think about all of "our" needs that God through others have provided for us. Meals, gas and parking money, preemie clothes, love, support, thoughtful gifts for Madeline, guidance, hugs, company...the list goes on.
Our times are tough, but God is faithful. He IS doing things in my families lives and the lives of those who have taken such good care of us. "Watch and see what I will do"
