Madeline Kay Murphy- 6 years old December 12th!
I wanted to send a quick hello and an update on Clara. She is still very much heavily sedated as the trach area heals. She will stay this way until her first trach change this Friday. ENT will do this first one, then they will done by her nurses once a week and eventually we will do it.
We have been with her at the hospital with her even though she is not awake. When I talk to her I like to think she can hear me, and perhaps knows at least I am there. I will be relieved to see her eyes open and watch her busy self move around once again.
For me the shock is wearing off and I have just focused on getting her through this week. We have an amazing support system in Chapel Hill from her nurses, nurse practitioners, and doctors. I can't say enough wonderful things about everyone who works with Clara there.
I want to send out a huge thank you for all the thoughts and prayers being sent our way. It helps tremendously being taken care of by family, friends, and by people we have never met before.
A new Charlotte friend reminded me that like God parted the Red Sea for the Israelites, God will make a way for us as well. How comforting!
Like I have shared before, Jason, Madeline and myself just love each other very much and will love and take care of Clara together. I think if we can focus on that we can get through anything.
