Post Op

We finally got to see Clara after 4:00. They said she came to the PACU awake, but when I walked in she whimpered. Almost as if a "oh mommy"! Some of the nurses know us, due to our frequent "flyer" status and they came over to talk and also asked where her bow was. Cute! They know Clara loves her bows. They told me encouraging things about our surgeon, new kid on the block at UNC, changing things up. They said a lot of kids come out in wedges, and not so much spica casts now. As my parents say "you want your lawyers older and your doctors young". LOL. Praise for answer about wedge...feeling better about that.

Surgery went great. No complications. We saw X-rays of her new hips with hardware inside. She did get her adductors lengthened. Her hips look great.

We are on a floor, not PICU. Praise. Jason can stay with me comfortably, she can have visitors, and we have our own bathroom.

She has an epidural only pumping 4 ml per hour and no narcotics yet, just Tylenol. She was snowed in the beginning and enjoyed looking around at all her visitors. As the evening drug on she became very agitated, so they gave her small dose of Valium. She is finally resting. Praying for a good night.

I see what you mean about wedge now. Amazing technology on the hips. Glad it's done.

Thank you for the update. So happy to see Clara’s pretty smile.
I hope you all get some rest tonight and each day Clara is out of pain.
Love and prayers to you all.
