When the Rain Falls.....Things Begin to Grow

Rest! This photo pretty much sums it up. Five days with out a trip to Chapel Hill, time off from work, no sadness, worry, guilt, it's time to just rest. Clara has been doing a lot of sleeping. Probably just as much as any baby her adjusted age would do. At the hospital they told us she may be more tired, given the environment is quieter and just different. However when she is awake, she is so alert and engaged. Jason and both think she is just a different baby here. She is drinking ounces of milk, and so far has dropped her oxygen requirement just a little. She now weighs 7 lbs 12 ounces and looks great. Being at home agrees with her!

Today she smiled a "social smile" for the first time to me. It was something I had been waiting for, and it totally made my day. Since this morning she has been smiling a little at everyone, including the new nurse.
Here are some new photos from our week.

Clara's first bath. Madeline was respondsible for taking photos with my phone. She got busy looking at her games, these were the only two we got! Oh well.... Bathing Clara if a little difficult with the trach.

In the car seat ready to see my new peditrician.

Aunt Janice came to visit.

Not a pirate fan????

Madeline loves to give Clara her bottles.

Play time on my mat
