Plans

Last week Clara had her fourth bronc at chapel hill. It was a successful visit with lots of information given. She went home with a bigger size trach,3.5, and we were given plans of tonsils and adenoid removal surgery, and reconstruction surgery soon after. Those were the only things I asked about during the pre op so I felt very pleased afterwards.

Yesterday we got a call with a plan for tonsil and adenoid surgery in November and reconstruction surgery in the spring.

This is second time we have given been a plan for trach removal, as the reconstruction was originally going to be this past spring. However because of the spasms, plans and really life were on hold for some time.

So obviously again It is so hard to truly be excited about future plans. The cynic in me embraces the truth that things do not always go as anticipated. I do however feel very pleased that we are going somewhere, and that Clara is doing so well the idea of getting the trach out is conceivable.
I still always just put every ounce of our future in God's hands, knowing he will get us there no matter what happens. Whenever it happens. Waiting is something we just have had learn.

Also I was also such a big girl and took Clara by myself to the appointment. I have never traveled so far with her, let alone brave a procedure by myself. On the way out of the hospital  I felt so proud of both of us making it through alone. As I was pushing Clara's brand new adaptive stroller, she was waving her hands in the air as if saying weeeee! We did it!
Pre op before bronc where we ran into one of Clara's old NICU nurses and our soon to be family member. What a treat to see our Jennifer.
Post op. It took Clara longer to wake up and get right this time. Very fussy. We just sat and rocked and got to know a new UNC nurse.
On the way to the car. Check out her new ride. A Zippie! So great because for the first time she can sit up and see everything in a stroller. She is so social, this is a perfect addition to her little life! Much thanks to Clara's old PT and new PT to get the ball rolling for this adaptive stroller. Also thanks to Gordon from New Motion who has come out several times for equipment assessments, and who ordered Clara's new ride!!
