Post surgery week

We are four days out from surgery. Each day has gotten better, but the week has been hard. I know what I already knew Clara would have difficulty with the pain. What I didn't expect is that she would be become very constipated, and would need tons, more than usual, of Milk Of Mag to help. We have taken that issue off our plates, but still dealing with horrible crying fits, from swallowing and coughing. Sometimes they will result in throwing up, just a lot of mucas. She wants to drink and tries very hard, but that usually just hurts her really bad. Then she cries and coughs with increases her salvia that she can't swallow. Then the cycle begins again.  Thank goodness for the gtube. We don't have to worry about dehydration. There is also a horrible smell  that is coming from her mouth, like something is rotted. I know this is normal, but wow!! The above photo was the first successful attempt in her stander  with her AFOs.
So with now a lot of poop, rotten breath, salvia and tears....everywhere we are very anxious to move on and get back to normal times here at home. Just so hard to see her get so upset and calm her down. We were both so happy to see Jason this morning as he came home from the fire station. She had her first smile with her daddy.
Also especially so thankful for my friend Blake and her little Mable that came to help Maddie and I last night. A good dinner, conversation between friends,  and a right hand helper makes a tremendous difference.
Thanks my friend!
We may try and get out and ride around in this rainy weather. Clara loves a trip in the car.
