"God's grace has a drenching about it. A wildness about it. A white water riptide, turn you upside downness about it. Grace comes after you." (Grace, Lucado"
I write this post from my IPhone (so ignore the typeos) on the beach....alone!! We are here for a week with my family, and really just having a fabulous time. Clara's nurse Julia came down for a few days, but today we are on our own tag teaming who is with each girl. I came down to be with Madeline and my nieces, and by the time I got down here gave maddie her snack, they wanted to go back up. I looked around and I was alone. I wasn't sure what to do, thought about it a little bit, thought about going back up and helping, but I pulled out book instead.
I just love his books. They have helped me endure and press on with life over the past almost two years. I quote Max Lucado a lot, and I thought I would share just alittle of the first chapter as he talks about grace. This is all paraphrased and straight out of the book.
God is in the business of changing hearts .he answers the meaning of life, the wasted years of life, the poor choices of life, all the mess of of life with one simple word-grace.
Grace is God as a heart surgeon. Cracking open your chest, removing your heart poisoned as it is with pride and pain and replacing it with his own. Rather than tell you to change, he creates the change. Do you clean up so he can accept you? No he accepts you and begins cleaning you up. His dream isn't just to get you into heaven but to get you heaven into you.
Grace is everything Jesus. To be saved by grace is to be saved by Him. Truth is we don't get grace but it sure does find us. Wherever we are. We just have to give a nod and Jesus will swoop down. If you wonder if God can do anything with the mess in your own life, your greed, selfishness, superiority, guilt, string of bad decisions, broken heart, then grace is what you need.
Grace found me the very moment I had Clara. It found me so scared from what had happened but also found me so broken for who I was before. It has changed me, shaped me, strengthend me. As Christians Christ is not only within us but happening in us all. Grace through Him moves in "rearranges the debris into the Devine, he repurposes bad decisions and squalid choices and little by little a new image emerges" (Grace, Lucado)
Grace will change your heart. If it hasn't happened to you yet, make certain it does.
